When thinking of the language of the front cover I had to first think about the masthead and what the title of the magazine would be. I chose college life because I felt that it had a mix of education and social life and that is what college is seen to be about. The main image of the front cover is a MCU of a student and the anchorage between the image and the main cover line is clear as it mentions her name and you can see a clear link between them. The colour scheme of the magazine is purple, black and white. This is more prominent now as before I overloaded on the purple and things became unclear so from the feedback i received from my drafts I made sure that I broke the colour up and therefore kept to my colour scheme and put the sell lines in purple and the skylines in white. The thumbnail image which I included on the cover relates to the article "Do you love reading...?" and so it clearly links to the article. After getting feedback from my first draft I decided to add a teasing contents along the bottom of the cover as this will help to say what else can be found in the magazine so that a potential buyer can witness all that can be found in the magazine. I decided that the price will be £1 because it is enough for students to afford and enough for the magazine to make a profit. The free revision tips poster will hopefully entice the students to buy the magazine as this will really help with the upcoming January exams and essay writing for important coursework.
The institution of the magazine is the college itself because I am the one who will create the magazine and I am at student at the college and the college will print the magazine to sell. The college will then collect and use any profit that it gains from the magazine to improve certain parts of the college to further improve the education of the students.
The ideology behind the magazine was to show that education is key at college and that you can succeed and achieve wherever is possible. I wanted to show that although education is the most important part to college, you can have a social life to and they are portrayed in the problem page of the magazine.
The audience for the magazine is Wyke students aged 16-19 because the college features articles about Wyke and the students that study there and the successes that students achieve. The students will feel that the magazine articles will be relevant to them and that will make the magazine unique as there isn't another magazine that focuses on the things that go in within the college.
I want my magazine to represent the achievements of the students and how the college is a great place to learn with the friendly atmosphere and the social environment. I want to portray the fact that the college offers a great education for students and that they can get you the best grades possible if you strive to work hard to get them. With the images showing the happiness and the social atmosphere of the college, it represents the great environment for work and shows the college to be a great place to study.
